Public displays of affection

Engagement pictures! The closest a suburban photographer like me will ever get to being a paparazzo. I'm friends with this couple, so they were subjected to all kinds of special requests on my part. Congratulations to the couple! And special thanks from me for being such patient and willing guinea pigs.

My little spoof on being a paparazzo.

We used an umbrella for some shots and I ended up loving this one. I'm a sucker for silhouettes.

Tying the knot. :)

Ooooh, baby!

It is literally impossible to pare down my favorites from this shoot. These are friends of mine, so the picture-taking was ridiculously fun. We decided to run out to the state park for these pictures and we were assaulted by ants. They were everywhere. Thousands and thousands of them. Every time we decided to make a wardrobe change, daddy would grab mommy's clothes and shake the ants off. They were troopers and I left the park knowing the editing would be FUN!

She's too beautiful for words.

Granny

I love out-of-the-ordinary shoots. This one in particular. A grown grandchild and her Granny. You know how I like to steal locations and ideas my clients bring me? This one is definitely going to be a stolen idea - but for a personal reason. I need to go see my Grandmommy with a camera and a tripod.

W Wedding

How do wedding photographers pick shots to post on a blog? It's almost impossible to choose. Weddings are moment after moment of, well...moments. Here are a few of my favorites from my latest wedding.

This one made me smile. I was glad to capture it before they caught me.

If you've seen my stuff before, you know there's always at least one picture I have to mess with. I loved her face, but hated the original because of the lighting and the background. So, I played a little. Roll your cursor over the picture to see the 'before.'

I love the look of this picture. Before I made it black and white, it already had a retro feel.

2 Years Old!

A thought occurred to me a few days ago - we can get some good pictures of my son for his 2nd birthday for FREE!!! It's true, I give myself an incredible discount on photography! I threw him into overalls and carried him to the greenbelt behind our house for these. See? You don't need a fancy location (although a cute baby helps) to get some good shots.

**UPDATE** Big Photo Giveaway

Remember way back in May (I say way back because, in Texas, May seems light years from the end of June in terms of weather) when I told you about the awesome thrill of participating in Becky Higgins' Big Photo Giveaway? I ended up with 51 responses to choose from. It was really, really hard to choose, but one comment just stood out to me. I can't tell you why it stuck out over others, but I felt complete peace in choosing the family who had just adopted their daughter from China. After a 4-year process! You can read more about them, their daughter, and their story at her blog here. Not only is it really pretty, but on this page, there's a picture of dad and daughter with a Storm Trooper.

Here's how I got lucky. First, they were so nice. Second, they were willing to drive to Grapevine to meet me. Finally, their daughter was BEAUTIFUL! Those of you who know me know how excited I get to take pictures of little girls. Not because I'm creepy (because reading that last sentence back sounds kind of creepy) but because I have four boys and I just don't get the opportunity to do it every day!

So, here are my favorite shots of our time together this past weekend. Thanks to the mom and dad for being so much fun to work with. Congratulations on your beautiful new family!

As much as I'd like to say she was reaching for me because of my incredible charm, she was reaching out to me because I had her lady bug stuffed toy.
